  • Street Sweeping Begins Monday, April 26, 2021

    Street Sweeping is Day After Trash/Recycling Pickup Day

    Please no parking on the street these days!

    The City of Nelsonville will implement a city-wide street sweeping program starting Monday, April 26, 2021. The streets will be swept Monday through Friday of each week. Citizens will be required to use an alternate on street parking spot the day their side of the street is swept. As shown on the attached map, the city is divided into five (5) sections. In each section, even numbered days the South and West sides of streets will be swept, and on odd numbered days North and East sides of streets will be swept.

    To help in remembering your street sweeping day the street sweeping schedule follows the trash and recycling schedule. As an example, if your trash and recycling is picked up on Monday, then your street will be swept on Tuesday.

    The City of Nelsonville announces that Church Street will be closed starting Monday, April 12, 2021 until approximately Monday, June 21, 2021. The street will be open to local and emergency vehicles only. During working hours expect delays. The street is being closed for the repair of a land slip affecting the street. Please avoid this area and use an alternate route.

    Woodlane Dr Closed at Monday Creek Bridge

    Starting Monday, April 12

    The City of Nelsonville announces that Woodlane Drive will be closed at the Monday Creek bridge between Pleasantview Avenue and Sylvania Avenue, starting Monday, April 12, 2021 until approximately Monday, August 2, 2021. The roadway is being closed for the replacement of the bridge over Monday Creek including the approach pavement and guardrail. Please avoid this area and use an alternate route.

    Pleasantview Ave. from Fort St. to Scott St.

    Wednesday, January 13, 7:00 am - 4:00 pm

    The City of Nelsonville announces that Pleasantview Avenue will be closed from Fort Street to Scott Street, and there will be no on street parking Wednesday, January 13, 2021 from 7:00AM until 4:00PM.

    The roadway is being closed for Asplundh Tree Expert Company to trim trees for American Electric Power. Pleasantview Avenue traffic will be detoured onto Scott Street. There will be no on street parking on Scott Street from Fort Street to Pleasantview Avenue to allow for two-way traffic for the day.

    W. Washington St., from Madison St. to Adams St.

    Wednesday, November 18 and Thursday, November 19, 7:30 am - 5 pm

    The City of Nelsonville announces that West Washington Street from Madison Street to Adams Street will be closed Wednesday, November 18, 2020 and Thursday, November 19, 2020 from 7:30AM until 5:00PM each day. The roadway is being closed for an R&R Pipeline gas line repair project, weather permitting.

    The City of Nelsonville announces that the intersection of Burr Oak Boulevard and Chestnut Street will be closed from 9:00 AM, Tuesday, November 3, 2020 until 12:00 PM, Thursday, November 5, 2020 for the installation of multiple water valves. Please avoid this area.


  • Curbside Leaf Pickup Service

    The City of Nelsonville Street Department will start curbside leaf pick-up on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, and continue every Tuesday and Thursday in November. All leaves must be raked into a pile at the curb but not in the street for pick-up. City crews will not be raking any leaves. Leaf pick-up will depend on the weather conditions for the month of November.

    The City of Nelsonville announces that the intersection of Burr Oak Boulevard and Chestnut Street closure for a manhole replacement has been extended for 24 hours. Crews hope to have the intersection reopened by Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at 5:00PM. Please avoid this area.

    The City of Nelsonville announces that Desteiguer Street will be permanently changing to a one-way street from Back Street to Jackson Street on Tuesday, September 1, 2020. Traffic travel on Desteiguer Street will be changed to a Northern direction from Back Street to Jackson Street.

    Please remember that this traffic pattern change is starting Tuesday, September 1, 2020, and use caution while driving in the area.
