    The City of Nelsonville announces that Rock River Construction will start the excavation and installation of new curbing on Mill Street Monday, May 2, 2022, until Friday, May 6, 2022. During the process, there will be no parking on Mill Street, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily.

  • Traffic lights set to flash at two intersections


    The City of Nelsonville has placed the traffic lights to flash red and yellow for 90 days at the following intersections:

    East Washington Street and Fort Street
    Burr Oak Boulevard and Chestnut Street

    After the 90 days the traffic lights will be removed from the intersections.

    Here is how you should treat a traffic signal flashing red or yellow.

    Flashing red stop signal: Operators of vehicles shall stop at a clearly marked stop line, but if none, before entering the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection, or if none, then at the point nearest the intersecting roadway where the driver has a view of approaching traffic on the intersecting roadway before entering it, and the right to proceed shall be subject to the rules applicable after making a stop at a stop sign.

    Flashing yellow caution signal: Operators of vehicles may proceed through the intersection or past such signal only with caution.

    The City of Nelsonville announces that Elm Rock Road will be reduced to one lane at the new sewer plant on Thursday, December 9, and Friday, December 10, 2021 from 7:00AM to 6:00PM each day. Please avoid this area and use an alternate route.

    Week of November 22 - 26, 2021

    The City of Nelsonville announces that the fall leaf pick up has been suspended for the week of Monday, November 22 through Friday, November 26, 2021, due to staffing issues. If you have leaves that need picked up after November 26 until Wednesday, December 15, 2021, please follow these steps for curbside leaf pick-up:

    1. Rake leaves to curbside, DO NOT include branches, sticks, grass clippings or tall grass. These can clog and damage the equipment and cause delays. City crews will not be raking any leaves.
    2. DO NOT rake leaves into the street. This can clog storm drains.
    3. DO NOT pile leaves around fire hydrants, street signs or utility poles.
    4. DO NOT PARK in front of leaf piles on pick-up days.
    5. When your leaves are curbside and ready, schedule curbside leaf pick-up by using Nelsonville’s “TextMyGov, text “Hi” to 740-265-3858 and a series of texts will guide you through the reporting process, or call, 740-753-1314, Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm.

    The City of Nelsonville announces that crews will start preparing Mill Street for repaving on Monday, November 1, 2021, so it can be paved on November 9 and 10, 2021.

    No on street parking will be permitted during this time. In an effort to maintain traffic to residents, crews will be working in sections by removing 120 feet of roadway and base at a time followed by repaving. Please avoid this area and use an alternate route.

    The City of Nelsonville crews will be performing street line painting Monday, October 25, 2021, through Friday, October 29, 2021, from 7:00AM to 7:00PM to the following streets,
