Accepting Letters of Interest Through July 10

Nelsonville City Council is accepting letters of interest from those who would like to serve on City Council. Interest in serving on the open seats may be submitted to either citymanager@cityofnelsonville.com or councilclerk@cityofnelsonville.com through July 10, 2020.


Harper Street at Poplar Street

The City of Nelsonville announces that Harper Street at Poplar Street has been closed until Tuesday, July 7, 2020. The roadway has been closed for a storm sewer repair.

The City of Nelsonville welcomes Scott Fitch as the interim Police Chief for Nelsonville. City council held a special meeting on Monday, June 27, 2019 to discuss Fitch’s appointment in executive session.

When Council returned to regular session they voted to appoint Fitch as the interim Police Chief until a permanent Police Chief can be appointed. Fitch was sworn in at the meeting by City Council President, Tony Dunfee before City Council adjourned the special meeting.


For Fort Street, Short Street, Kontner Street, Mill Street, Clinton Street, College Street, Fairview Street, Verity Street, and Pleasantview Avenue

The Nelsonville Water Department has CANCELED the boil order for the following areas: Fort Street, Short Street, Kontner Street, Mill Street, Clinton Street, College Street, Fairview Street, Verity Street, and Pleasantview Avenue.

We would like to thank those effected by this incident for their patience and understanding.


For East of Burr Oak Boulevard including State Route 691, Kimberly Road and Hocking College

The City of Nelsonville Water Department has canceled the boil order for East of Burr Oak Boulevard including State Route 691, Kimberly Road and Hocking College.

Friday, July 3

The City of Nelsonville Government Offices will be closed Friday July 3, 2020 in observance of Independence Day. The City Offices will be re-open on Monday July 6, 2020.

The final schedule of events for the 25th Annual "Thunder In The Valley", 4th of July celebration fireworks has been completed and includes COVID-19 precautions. The Hocking Valley Scenic Railroad WILL NOT be running a Shuttle to Hocking College.
