The City of Nelsonville, Ohio (population 5,000) is located in Athens County, Ohio. The City Council is seeking a City Manager who will oversee a full-time staff of 29 employees and 5part- time personnel. As with many municipalities in this challenging economy, financial and budget concerns will be a major issue faced by the incoming City Manager. Service delivery to the residents and constituents of Nelsonville is of paramount importance and the City Manager must provide strong organizational leadership in identifying and providing quality services in a more efficient, creative, and resourceful manner. Active communication and interaction with the City Council will be a priority in this assignment. With the challenging and difficult decisions facing cities today, the City Manager must provide the Council with alternatives, options and recommendations that can provide the basis for effective policy guidance in working collectively as a unified team. The City Manager and Council will need to have a candid and open working relationship based on trust and credibility. A seasoned City Manager with involvement in the community is being sought. Individuals with experience working with senior community members are encouraged to apply.

City Council VIRTUAL Meeting
Monday, April 27 at 7:00 pm
Due to social distancing recommendations on preventing the spread of the COVID-19, Nelsonville City Council will be meeting in regular session Monday, April 27, 2020 at 7 PM via a virtual meeting. The public may not attend the meeting in person.
Citizens comments and business and organizational comments may be made to council by Emailing them to email@example.com, no later than 12 PM Monday, April 27, 2020.

East Canal Street Traffic Diversions
Wednesday, April 22 until Friday, April 24
The City of Nelsonville announces that traffic diversions will begin on East Canal Street at the Chestnut Street South “Y”, Wednesday, April 22, 2020. On Thursday, April 23, 2020 East Canal Street at the Chestnut Street South “Y” will be closed to traffic until Friday, May 22, 2020.
This construction is to install new sanitary sewer lines for the new wastewater treatment plant on Elm Rock Road. Access to all businesses East of Burr Oak Boulevard will remain accessible.
Please use an alternate route when possible and be patient when traveling though the designated work zone.
Boil Order Canceled
The City of Nelsonville Water Department has canceled the boil order for Burr Oak Boulevard from Crihfield Drive to Buchtel, Blair Court, Runyan Drive, Sylvania Avenue, Carbon Hill Buchtel Road from Bessemer Road to Sandy Lane, Sandy Lane, Bessemer Road, Conner Road and The Village of Buchtel.
