Since I started in May of 2025, I was curious to know how much the City of Nelsonville had spent on their infrastructure. 

This is a list of what has been worked on since 2018 to present. At the end of the report is the total amount the City has spent. I think you will be quite surprised, I know I was. 

Work Accomplished

 

Water Projects

Phase I Water System Improvements 2021, $3,300,000

Replacement of all the water meters, a portion of the meter pits, and some services. Waterline replacement on Kimberly Road, St. John, Murray Lane, Mill Street, Watkins Street and East Walnut. 


Phase II Water System Improvements W/ OPWC Road Repairs 2024, $5,500,000

Replaced water main on Franklin, Fort Street, Short Street, Scott Street, Kotner Street, Koker Street, John Street, Frederick Street, Burr Oak Blvd, Woodlane Drive, Silvania Avenue, Bessemer Road, Mound Street, and a piece of Pine Grove Drive


Phase III 2025, $3,500,000

Currently doing Washington Street to Jefferson, Jackson Street, Desteiguer Street, Grovesnor, Poplar Street from St. Charles to the end. A large piece in Butchel from 12 Street all the way to 78. Oakley Drive.


Phase IV 2027, $4,800,000

New Project, Pine Grove Drive, Grover Street, Oak Street, Elizebeth, College, Clinton, Fairview, Diamond, Verity, High Street, Walnut, Harper, Ashton Avenue, Burr Oak Blvd (Hillside Drive). 


North River Crossing 2022, $150,000

Replaced 500 feet of failed water main under the Hocking River to restore the second feed from the water treatment plant to the City on the other side of the river.


 

Sewer Projects

Phase I Regional Collection System Improvements 2020, $6,120,000

Built the main pump and 1 mile of force main to the new plant site. Installed new sewers in areas not sewered from Runyon lumber yard to Blair Court, included new sewers along Carbon Hill Butchel Road, Dew Lane and Sandy Lane. Upgraded the Butchel lift station with the installation of a generator. Replaced the Back Street Lift Station. Some sewer replacement on Back Street and replaced the trunk sewer along East Chestnut Street from Burr Oak Blv to the new pump station by the existing sewer plant. 


Phase II Regional Collection System Improvements 2021 – 2023, $20,000,000

New Sewer Plant and acquisition of the Buchtel Water and Sewage Systems.


Phrase III 2023-2024, $3,200,000

Monroe Street, North Alley, Myers from Rocky to the Mexican Restaurant, Railroad Street, which was un-sewered, and Murray Lane.  Replaced the VFD Lift Station and Water Plant Lift Station.


Phase IV Regional Collection System Improvements 2024-2025, $3,000,000

Scenic Lane, Scott Street, Riverside, Ally behind Fort Street, Riverside Drive, Diamond Brick Road. 


Phase V Regional Collection System Improvements 2027, $3,500,000

New Project Received a grant of $200,000 to complete the design work. The project will install sewers on Wend Road and Critchfield Drive.  It will also replace 4 lift stations and reline the trunk sewer through the City.


 

Other Projects

Church Street Slip Repair 2020, $325,000

Repaired approximately 180 feet of failed roadway using a 30 foot deep soldier pile retaining wall along with the required pavement repairs.


Woodlane Drive Slip Repair 2019, $250,000

Repaired approximately 280 feet of failed roadway using a drilled shaft plug pile retaining wall along with the required pavement repairs.


Riverside Drove Slip Repair 2019, $300,000

Repaired approximately 100 feet of failed roadway using a drilled shaft retaining wall along with the required pavement repairs.


Woodlane Drive Bridge Replacement 2021, $550,000

Replaced the bridge on Woodlane Drive over Monday Creek near Murray Lane.  


Neighborhood Revitalization 2019, $850,000

Included sidewalk construction along Chestnut, Disteiguer, and Watkins Streets; lighting and security cameras at Polly Field; waterline replacement along Watkins Street; storm sewer on Harper and Walnut Streets; paving on Second Street; and pedestrian crossing on Canal Street.


Washington Street Sidewalk Replacement 2025, $330,000

Replaced sidewalk, curb, light poles and installed tree wells on north side of West Washington Street from the square to Fulton Street.


Dog Park 2025, $270,000

Installed fencing, waterlines, asphalt trail, parking, and shelter house to create the new Dog Park at the site of the former sewage treatment plant.


ODOT Small Cities Canal Street Reconstruction 2025, $2,900,000

Replacement of broken concrete pavement, curb and gutter, and resurface asphalt on the east and west ends.
