The City of Nelsonville announces that the following City Council Committees will be holding meetings on Monday, August 24, 2026, at City Hall prior to the scheduled regular City Council meeting.

• 5:30 PM – Judiciary Committee
• Duration: 20 minutes
  • Rules of Council – placement of the City Manager Update on the Council agenda
  • Treasurer – duties and responsibilities
  • Council Clerk – duties and responsibilities /ul
  • 5:50 PM – Utilities Committee
  • Duration: 20 minutes
    • Commercial rental units – requirement for master water meters
    • Changing the water deposit to a refundable deposit of approximately $150–$175
    • Disconnect notices – proposed change to the required notice period from the current “no less than 5 days and no more than 10 days” to “no less than 5 days and no more than 15 days” due to delays in postal delivery
  • 6:10 PM – Planning & Development Committee
  • Duration: 20 minutes
    • Alleyways
    • Tree cutting – responsible party and height requirements
    • Petting zoos / exotic animals
  • 6:30 PM – Finance Committee
  • Duration: 20 minutes
    • Update to the staffing ordinance to reflect this year’s union wages
    • Updated compensation for the Council Clerk and Treasurer
    • Incorporation of the previously discussed change of the Special Projects Coordinator position to salary
    • Changing the water deposit to a refundable deposit of approximately $150–$175
