Due to Mechanical Issues

The City of Nelsonville announces that the city’s aquatic center will close for the remainder of the 2020 season due to mechanical issues.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but this closure is necessary for the safety of everyone. Thank you for your patience and cooperation, and all your support this summer.


Pleasantview Avenue, from Fort Street to Scott Street

Weekdays, Thursday, August 13 through Monday, August 17, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm

The City of Nelsonville announces that Pleasantview Avenue will be closed from Fort Street to Scott Street, Thursday, August 13, 2020 through Monday, August 17, 2020, weekdays only. The roadway will be closed each day from 7:00AM until 5:00PM. Traffic will be detoured onto Scott Street. Flaggers will be at each end of Scott Street and detour the traffic around Pleasantview Avenue on Scott Street during work hours. Pleasantview Avenue will be open to traffic during non-work hours.

The roadway is being closed for an R&R Pipeline gas line repair project, weather permitting. Please use an alternate route.


The Nelsonville Water Department has issued a boil order for Saint John Street until further notice.

The Boil Order has been issued due to a repair for a leak on the mainline. When a boil order is in effect, we ask those affected to boil their drinking and cooking water for three minutes before being consumed.

This Boil Order is in effect until further notice, unless notified otherwise.


City of Nelsonville Water Waste Treatment Plant Operator

Duties

Operation of Wastewater Treatment Plant. Monitors pumping station and inspects facility on a scheduled basis to ensure proper operation of plant and equipment. Duties also include collection and analysis of samples, taking daily measurements for process control, maintenance of pumps and equipment, operation and maintenance of lift stations, regulates chemical feeds according to instructions, starts and stops pumps , motors and other equipment, replaces chlorine and de-chlorination chemicals and regulates flow of each, operates motorized equipment as necessary, cutting grass, snow removal, record keeping for process control measurements, chemical feeds and daily log, cleaning, inspection and maintenance of plant and other related duties as may apply.


Starting Thursday, August 13th

The Nelsonville Water Department suspended water shut offs in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic statewide stay at home order. Since that order has been lifted, the Nelsonville Water Department will resume water shut offs for overdue water bills starting Thursday, August 13, 2020. If you have any questions concerning your water service or bill, please call the water department at (740) 753-2151.

Assistance in paying overdue water bills is available through the Hocking, Athens, Perry Community Action Water Bill Assistance Program. For assistance in Athens County, please call Amanda from HAPCAP at (740) 767-4500.

The City of Nelsonville announces that the North bound lane of Fort Street will be closed from Washington Street to Franklin Street Friday, August 7, 2020 from 8:00AM to 4:00PM. The roadway is being closed to allow crews to safely trim the trees along the roadway. Please avoid this area.
