The Nelsonville Police Department is accepting applications for the position of School Resource Officer with the Nelsonville-York City School District. Applications will be accepted until 3:00PM on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. The City is working on setting up a Civil Service Exam for the position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Acting as a liaison between the school district and the police department.
  • Ensuring the safety of students, staff, and the school campus.
  • Handling investigations and incidents that occur on the school campus.
  • Fostering positive relationships with students.
  • Accurately documenting incidents and completing reports.

Applicants need to be:

  • At least 21 years old.
  • Have a valid driver’s license.
  • Be a certified Ohio Peace Officer.
