The City of Nelsonville is working with the Rural Community Assistance Partnership (RCAP) to complete a water service line survey to meet an EPA mapping mandate. RCAP Staff will be visiting the City on March 25- 27 to complete work on this inventory.
During this visit RCAP will be conducting home visits to verify service line material entering the home. RCAP will also be deploying a soft digging method to visually inspect a portion of the service line at the curb stop. RCAP staff will be wearing High Visibility apparel with the RCAP logo and have identification with them.
If a lead water service line is found, the homeowner will be notified of its presence and can discuss a plan to remove the lead with the city. A lead service line will not pose an immediate health risk to you or your family.
Thank you for your cooperation with RCAP and the City to help complete the lead service line inventory. Your help is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, please contact the City Utilities Office at 740-753-2151.
